The Hot Pot: How to enjoy a Taiwanese soup

About this particular soup I was hearing from the first day I came to Taiwan.

Basically in the centre of the dining table a pot is placed. Ingredients such as meat, seafood, leaf vegetables, egg dumplings, mushrooms, wontons are placed into the pot and are cooked at the table while the hot pot with stock is simmering. Additionally you can eat the food with dipping sauce.

I was taken for the hot pot to the restaurant by my Taiwanese family.

Meanwhile we were choosing the wanted ingredients from the fridge, one of the staff prepared the pot and lighted the stove.

Then all of us started putting ingredients in it. We went after I guess five types of mushrooms, a cabbage, some sorts of meat, a corn, two types of noodles, few types of dumplings, shrimps and many more.

The soup was ready in a few minutes. My new dad kept adding more to my bowl when I wasn’t looking! You never have one portion, three or four at least!

As always I enjoyed this meal. 10/10.
