I was introduced to a store named Sunny Rush, that sells goods weaved with rush, a straw like plant. They have a variety of selections including hats, key chains, hand bags and much more. I thought of making a purchase, but the price point was slightly high for my preference, but that was a minor factor considering the handmade quality of the goods.

This was the grand opening of their first physical store, so many were there to congratulate the owners. I was pleasantly surprised to see two grandmother whom were employees, using their weaving skills to make products.

I was also able to make the acquaintance creator of a company named Renli People that sells pens and pencils that are made out of pear stems that are usually burned. They reduce waste emissions, and look beautiful too. My companion in Miaoli, Jeff was very kind to gift me one. They also allow you to make it yourself! Yup, from drilling a hole into the body, inserting the pencil lead and much more. I wasn't able to experience that, but I heard that they were quite popular at the market.

Taking a walk with Jeff, he explained that we were walking on one the oldest streets in the area and it was easy to tell, as the buildings looked quite old, yet so pretty. Walking in the sun, I was taken to a famous store that sells dried pork, some dried vegetables and other similar goods. I could tell that their customers enjoy their products because many could be seen packing multiple packages in their shopping baskets. I'm not sure how to explain it, but when I first tasted it, it reminded me of beef jerky, but softer? You'll get what I mean, if you try it!
