One of the meaningful products I have seen displayed in Gooddays were craft handmade owls. Linda, the shopkeeper, took me to see where those cute colorful creatures come from. It turned out the owls are made by residents from Namaxia, this area was hit by Typhoon Morakot as well.

We stopped in a new neighborhood built for people who lost their houses in the time of the same typhoon. Since the fields, their only resource for their all life and the life of their ancestor were gone with houses as well they needed to start with something else. They were forced to learn something different than farming.

The lady we visited the other day does these owls from a cloth really similar to their national Namaxia's costume in the colors as well as patterns. People's belief of owls is when the one comes to your home it brings a hope to your life. This hope usually represents the new born child.

Gooddays tries to help both the farmers who still can work on their farm and those who needed to start with a different resource for living. Several sizes and types of handmade owls are sold in this in Gooddays in Jiaxian. I couldn't resist buying some of them.
