Hualien Update: Fire!

After a long day river trekking, we proceeded to have resting time until dinner. I decided to bring my camera out and take pictures of the beach while the Visual Beats Productions group went to try surfing. They continued, but later decided to simply play in the water and swim. Unfortunately someone lost their glasses and it's quite difficult as you may imagine to find glasses through the waves that come and go.

With dinner time arriving, I noticed that Logan and Emas were rearranging large stones and had begun to make a fire. With the fire blazing away and everyone's appetite at a high having gone through a tiring day, we waited for the food to be brought to the beach. Each of us carried something down and were ready to eat! Logan briefly explained about the food (that's what it sounded like) and we all digged in.

With everyone full and the night beginning to get dark we began to drink. That's how it usually goes here, we eat then we drink! With a can of beer in everyone's hand, we began singing songs. Logan has a wonderful voice and he started it off with someone else on the drums and others humming along. They next got me to rap...but of course I spewed out random words with no rhyme, haha. Julia and I had been listening to an aboriginal tune, and we sang that song. It was slightly embarrassing getting the lyrics continuously wrong. Along with that, Julia couldn't stop giggling, so our performance was quite amusing, I'm sure, for the audience.
