Harvest Festival
The people of Jici are not only skilled in fishing, hunting, trekking but they do enjoy a lot by rejoicing with people by getting together at a common place. One of the few famous festivals is the Harvest festival celebrated by every tribe in different dates in the month of August. Everyone in the community come to a common place in the evening time in their traditional attire with a small hat made of feathers of birds. It looks pretty adorable. I was personally fascinated to that attire. They greet, dance, drink, chat, sing, shout, cry. All their feelings are expressed to each other and they do share all their pleasant memories.
A world survey states that 40% of an individuals’ happiness lies when they are with people they like. The Aboriginals live by that.
Music concert and Party
Occasionally, music festivals are organized at Hatila. People from RTM, Logan Surf School came and played their favourite instruments like Guitar, Ukulele and sang songs to express their feelings. It was a chance to get to know of every person in-person. I did sing a Tamil Song of a lonely female lover from the film named after a city in India ‘Bombay’. Emas, the local care-taker generously offered 4 beers to me. I shared my beer with I-Chern and chatted a lot with Arya, Taichi – my friends from Taiwan, Indonesia and Japan.
After the party, Emas still checked if I was there. When found missing at 2am after the party, he and his friend Panni along with RTM member Angus searched for me and finally found me in the sofa in the neighboring house. How kind and caring they are !!! It was not my fault. All because of Alcohol.
